COMMUNITY THEATER FAQs

Who can participate in an All Ages Community Theater production?

Our All Ages Community Theater productions are open to all people of all ages! We choose shows where there are roles and opportunities for everyone from children to senior citizens of all backgrounds and abilities so that the entire community can participate together in putting on a show!

Is an audition required to perform in LRT’s All Ages Community Theater Productions?

Yes, for all those who wish to perform in our All Ages Community Theater productions, an audition is required. We ask that every actor make an audition appointment on one of our audition days and they will be asked to prepare 32 bars of a song (approx 1 minute) in the style of the show and bring sheet music in the correct key as well as your headshot (or a recent photo) and resume. You may choose to sing from the show if you wish. Callbacks will be held a few days after the initial auditions and if called back, material from the production will be sent for you to learn and prepare for the callback. You may also be asked to learn a short dance combination.

What is the time commitment for a Community Theater production?

LRT’s community theater productions generally rehearse three to four times per week in the evenings for about two months. Exact schedule depends on the role and performer’s conflicts. We honor all conflicts as long as they are listed ahead of time on your audition form. If cast, actors can expect to receive a full rehearsal schedule before the first rehearsal so they know which day(s) they will be called. The week before the show aka “tech week”, all actors are called.

Are LRT Community Theater Productions paid?

We are non-paying community theater and all of our performers are volunteers. However, we do have a ‘tip jar’ at each performance for audience members to donate to and the proceeds from the tip jar will be divided amongst the cast and any volunteer offstage team members.

Are Community Theater productions open to the public?

Yes! Tickets will be onsale to the general public!

I want to be involved in the production but I am not a performer, are there ways I can still be involved?

Yes! We want as many members of the community involved as possible and always need help! No matter what your area of interest and expertise is; whether it be painting, sewing, carpentry, or simply helping out backstage or front of house at performances to even skills like graphic design and marketing, we have a place for you! If you wish to volunteer please e-mail littleradicaltheatrics@gmail.com
