About us

Originally based in Yonkers, NY; now based in Orlando, FL,  Little Radical Theatrics, Inc. (LRT)  a non-profit 501(c)3 community theater was originally founded in 2009. LRT has produced 37 full-scale musicals: 29 in NY, and 8 in Orlando including several regional premieres such as “Roald Dahl’s Matilda”, “The Addams Family”, “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” and “Reefer Madness”. LRT has received numerous grants and awards, including sweeping the 2019 BroadwayWorldWestchester/Rockland Awards for our 2019 season of “Mamma Mia”, “Fame” and “Brigadoon” and winning ten awards, the most of any local theater company for Orlando’s 2022 BroadwayWorld Awards for our production of “The Addams Family”.  Performers who have worked with LRT have appeared on Apple TV’s “Ghost Writer”, “American Idol”, “What Would Would You Do?”, Off-Broadway, in national commercials, national tours, and in countless regional productions.

Our Values

Diversity

LRT has always been a champion of diverse casting in every aspect; constantly making efforts to make sure our onstage worlds truly reflect the diversity of our  offstage world. Representation and inclusion matter and race, body type, assigned at birth gender or disability should not be a roadblock for the right actor to play a role. Our philosophy is that ‘physical types’ should be a thing of the past,  no child nor adult should feel that they cannot play a role solely because of their physical appearance, with the exceptions where a role MUST be of a certain ethnicity due to the plot of the show.

Education

LRT believes that no matter your age or experience, you are always growing and learning as you participate in the performing arts; both as an artist and as a person. We want all program participants to grow in their knowledge of the performing arts while learning solid technique and important life skills such as comfortability with public speaking, proper voice support, and teamwork that they can bring to wherever life takes them.
We also believe that every performer no matter their age, if they are onstage they need to serve a purpose, so we keep our casts to a size that allows everyone to have the individualized attention from the creative team to keep learning and growing in their roles as well as have a moment (or several!) to shine.

Community

Much as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to put on a show. LRT has always been a believer in the power of true community theater: people of all ages, all walks of life whether they are pursuing the arts professionally, have a day job and pursue their passion in their free time or are even just getting interested in the performing arts for the first time , coming together to put on a show. Though we all work hard to put on high quality productions, at the end we want everyone who participates in our program to come out of the experience feeling artistically fulfilled, having met people who they may never have encountered in their regular lives, made lasting friendships and most of all had fun!
