Little Radical Theatrics is thrilled to announce auditions for its All Ages Spring 2025 production of “Carousel” at the Doctor Phillips Center for the Performing Arts!

ROLES FOR ALL TYPES OF PERFORMERS ADULTS, TEENS AND CHILDREN AGES 6-80+

Voted the best musical of the 20th century by Time Magazine, Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Carousel is the classic American musical, spanning heaven and earth in its exploration of human frailty, resilience, and the power of forgiveness. This American classic features some of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most iconic pieces, including “If I Loved You”, “Mister Snow”, “June Is Bustin Out All Over”, and the iconic “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Join LRT as we examine the concepts of temptation, redemption, afterlife and emotional intelligence in the classic Rogers and Hammerstein musical, from a radical new perspective.

AUDITIONS for performers ages 6-80+ BY APPOINTMENT January 8th and 9th from 6:30-9:30 in the Rivers Conference Room 10771 International Dr Orlando Fl.

TO MAKE AN AUDITION APPOINTMENT please email littleradicaltheatrics@gmail.com with your preferred date and time and a headshot and resume if you have one. For the auditions please prepare 16 bars (approx 1 minute) of a song in the style of the show (classic musical theater) and bring either a track that can be played through Bluetooth speakers or sheet music in the correct key. There will be a dance call at auditions so be prepared to dance.

CALLBACKS will be held January 11th in the afternoon at 10771 International Dr Orlando Fl

REHEARSALS to begin Monday January 20th and generally run Mon-Thurs 6:30/7-10/10:30 at 10771 International Dr Orlando OR 10731 International Dr. Orlando (both spaces are next door to each other). Actors will not be called to every rehearsal and we WILL work around conflicts (so long as they are stated in advance on our audition form)

LRT is a NON PAYING community theater though tips will be collected at performances and evenly divided amongst the cast

Billy Bigelow - strong baritone with a commanding presence. The very successful barker for the Mullin Carousel and a bit of a ladies’ man. Billy is a tragically flawed figure who has never learned to deal with adversity or conflict, especially with those he loves, with anything other than anger and violence. ALL ETHNICITIES Playable Age Range – 20’s-30s

Julie Jordan - A quiet, naïve at first, mill worker who falls in love with Billy Bigelow. Julie adopts an inner strength and maturity, when faced with the hardships of life. Must be a strong singer and strong actor. Soprano. ALL ETHNICITIES Playable Age Range 18-30s

Carrie Pipperidge - A lively and funny friend/ coworker of Julie Jordan. In love with Enoch Snow, Carrie offers a light-hearted foil to Julie's seriousness. Must be a strong singer and strong comedic actor. Mezzo who has both a belt and a legit range. ALL ETHNICITIES Playable age range- 18-30s

Enoch Snow - a shy fisherman with big plans for the future who tires to project as aloof and pompous. Must be a strong singer and strong actor with great comedic timing. ALL ETHNICITIES Tenor. Playable Age Range 20s-50s

Jigger Cragin - A friend of Billy's who ultimately leads Billy astray. A con man with a lot of humor and an eye for naive women. Jigger’s answer to problems is crime and violence. Must be a good singer and a strong actor with great comedic timing, the lovable rogue archetype. ALL ETHNICITIES. Comedic baritone. Playable Age Range 20s-50s

Nettie Fowler - CAST

Louise - Billy and Julie’s 15 year old daughter who is going through life without a father. This is a MAJOR dancing role. Louise dances the entire ballet in the second act. A non-singing role that requires strong acting ability as well as strong dance. ALL ETHNICITIES. Ages 14-20s to READ 15.

Mrs Mullins - Widow and owner of the carousel. Jealously in love with Billy. Role for a VERY strong actor with great comedic timing. ALL ETHNICITIES. Playable Age Range 30s-60s

Starkeeper/Doctor Seldon- An otherworldly figure who is the judge for Billy in the afterlife. Role for a VERY strong actor. ALL ETHNICITIES. Any age.

Heavenly Friend - An otherworldy figure who guides and befriends Billy in the afterlife. Strong actor. May double in the ensemble. ALL ETHNICITIES.Playable Age Range 8-18

Carnival Boy - A young man who works in a traveling carnival and who is interested in Louise. EXTREMELY STRONG DANCER. ALL ETHNICITIES Playable Age Range 16-20s. Will double in the ensemble.

Enoch Snow Jr - Enoch and Carrie’s teenage son. He’s in love with Louise but just as pompous as his father. ALL ETHNICITIES. Playable Age Range 13-20s to read 14. Strong comedic actor. Will double in the ensemble

Mr. Bascombe - The wealthiest man in town who owns the mill where Julie and Carrie work. Strong actor. Will double in the ensemble. ALL ETHNICITIES Playable Age Range 30s-70s

Margaret Snow - Enoch and Carrie’s oldest daughter. Very snobby. Strong actor. Will double in the ensemble. ALL ETHNICITIES. Playable Age Range 12-18

Arminy - A married friend of Julie and Carrie’s. Featured singer. Mezzo or Soprano. Will double in the ensemble. ALL ETHNICITIES. Playable Age Range 16-30s

2nd Heavenly Friend - Heavenly Friend’s assistant. Featured speaking role. ALL ETHNICITIES. Ages 6-18

Snow Children - Enoch and Carrie’s other 7 children. Will double in the ensemble. ALL ETHNICITIES. Ages 6-17

Ensemble - all types and vocal ranges. Ensemble members will play townspeople, including: the girls from the mill, seafaring men, policemen, ship captain, principal. There are MANY solo speaking features, solo singing features, and dancing roles. ALL ETHNICITIES. All ages 6-80s!
